Havana, September 21 (JIT).- Cubans Carlos Andriel Ajete and Boris Luis Guerra could not access this Wednesday to the semifinal of the men's double pair at the World Rowing Championships of Racice 2022, in Czech Republic, scheduled until September 25.

They placed fifth with a time of 6:38.64 minutes, in a heat that gave quotas to the first three boats for the phase that will take place on September 23.

"Carlos and Boris rowed well, but this time they did not achieve the goal of being among the semifinalists," Angel Luis Garcia, president of the Cuban Rowing Federation, told JIT.

"They have to keep competing, as they have at least two regattas left," abounded the head of the small Cuban delegation that includes the duo of Milena Venegas and Yariulvis Cobas, and coach Joan Manuel Paula.

Carlos and Boris will now seek their overall place in a competition that welcomes 900 athletes from 65 countries, including the largest number of Pararemeros in history.

On Wednesday, the Croatian team (6:21.49), the Moldavian (6:23.25), the Italian (6:23.67) and the Serbian (6:24.34) preceded the Antilleans in their race. Behind them came the Finns with 6:49.26.

Our girls were left without the option of advancing to the repechage in the women's double pair (2XF) during their first race, finishing last with a time of 7:25.10 minutes.
