Havana, November 13 (RHC)-- The Cuban youth boxing team traveled Sunday from France to Alicante, Spain, to participate in the world championship of the category, in which it will seek the title in the men's division.

The nine fighters of the squad and the coaches, led by Santiago Suarez, completed several weeks of preparation in the city of Tremblay-en-France, in the Paris region, thanks to the efforts of the Cuba Coopération France (CubaCoop) association and the support of the local mayor, François Asensi.

In statements to Prensa Latina news agency, Suarez pointed out the conquest of the team crown among men as the objective of the delegation for the tournament that starts tomorrow, Monday, until November 26.

He explained that it will be a difficult event, to which they arrive with the goal of achieving the men's supremacy, which has been achieved since 2016, and plan to get three gold medals.

According to the head coach, strength rivals include Kazakhs, Uzbeks and Americans, as well as individuals from other nations.

At the first Cali-Valley 2021 Pan American Youth Games, Cuba led the boxing medal standings with four gold medals, one more than the United States, one silver and two bronze.
