Havana, March 18 (RHC)-- Without calling the star goalkeeper Keylor Navas, the coach of the Costa Rican national soccer team, Luis Fernando Suarez, summoned on Friday the 26 players with whom he will face the CONCACAF group stage.

At a press conference at the Real Continental hotel, the Colombian coach said that Keylor is still his first choice, but now he did not call him because he is now the main goalkeeper of his new club, the English Nottingham Forest, and also indicated that he needs to try other national goalkeepers for when Navas cannot be there.

Without the Tico idol and best goalkeeper in Central America and the Caribbean, among those called up by Suárez stands out striker Joel Campbell, as an experienced figure. However, the team stands out for the number of new prospects such as Suhander Zúñiga, Gerald Taylor, Fabrizio Ramírez and Warren Madrigal.

These new names will be looking to earn a place in the Tricolor - as they call the Costa Rican national team - ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

The players will begin training next Monday and will leave next Thursday for Martinique, to face it on Saturday 25, while on the 28th they will play as hosts against Panama.

Costa Rica is currently in second place in its group with three points, although with a game in hand, behind Panama (7). Therefore, it needs to win both games to advance to the Final Four of the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf).

Roster: Goalkeepers: Kevin Chamarro, Alexandre Lezcano and Patrick Sequeira. Defenders: Suhander Zúñiga, Ian Lawrence, Geralda Taylor, Kendal Waston, Óscar Duarte, Francisco Calvo, Juan Pablo Cargas and Daniel Chacón.

Also, Flyers: Youstin Salas, Roan Wilson, Yeltsin Tejeda, Fabrizio Ramírez, Keysher Fuller, Alonso Martínez, Jewison Bennette, Josimar Alcocer, Brandon Aguilera and Aarón Suárez. Forwards: Joel Campbell, Anthony Contreras, Warren Madrigal and José Pablo Córdoba.
