Havana, May 4 (RHC) - Cuban boxing brought to eight wins in a row and maintained its unbeaten record at the World Championship in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, with three victories on Thursday.

Three-time world champion Lazaro Alvarez and youngsters Alejandro Claro and Fernando Arzola achieved successes.

In a new division (63.5 kg), Lazarito achieved his second victory and has started with the right foot the road in search of his fourth world crown, by disposing 5-0 of the Ethiopian Kerala, a brave fighter who always looked for the exchange against the experienced Cuban, although he missed most of his punches.

The Cuban brought out all his mastery on the ring and connected the best punches based on combinations of straight and hooks, which deserved the unanimous vote of the 5 Thursday, three of them 30-26 and the other two 30-27.

For his part, southpaw Alejandro Claro (48 kg) overcame Armenian Bareghan in the second round, when the referee stopped the actions due to an injury on the Cuban's face. Going to the ballot up to that point, the Cuban had the advantage in the ballot of 4 of the 5 judges.

The other victory was contributed by the supercomplete Fernardo Arzola (+92 kg), winner against the Italian Diego Lenzi (5-0), in a fight where he had control of the actions.

On Wednesday, Cuba had achieved two victories through the debutants Erislandy Alvarez (60 kgs) and Jorge Cuellar (71).
