Canoe World Cup concludes for Cuba with a gold medal and two tickets for Paris 2024

Havana, August 28 (ACN) - Canoeist José Ramón Pelier finished in an outstanding fifth place in the 5000m C1 in the final day of the World Canoe Championships in Duisburg, Germany.

Pelier also competed in the single seater canoe (C-1) at 1,000m, and won the B final, for tenth place overall.

In the Sunday long-distance race, the Guantanamo athlete clocked 23:11.395 minutes, in a final won by the Hungarian Balazs Adolf (22:12.975).

Kayakers Daylén Rodríguez and Yurieni Guerra finished ninth in the B final in the K2 500 meters.

The best for Cuba in Duisburg was achieved by the stellar canoeist Yarisleidi Cirilo, who won the title in the single-seater (C-1) at 200 meters, and also excelled in the two-seater canoe (C-2) at 500 meters, together with her new duo, the 17-year-old Yinnoly Francheska López, sixth in the A final.

Both boats won tickets to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games,

It should be noted that the duo of Cirilo and Francheska made their international debut in Duisburg.

Cuba also participated with Javier Requeiro, in the C-1 to 500 meters, and Robert Benítez and Yan Carlos Samé, in the K-2 to 500 meters, in a world championship that distributed the first places for Paris 2024 in this sport.
