Havana, September 20 (RHC) - Cuba's Milaimys de la Caridad Marín will fight this Wednesday for one of the bronze medals at the World Wrestling Championship in Belgrade, Serbia.
With a remarkable performance in the 76 kg, the Havana native achieved three victories with only one defeat on Tuesday and will go for bronze and an Olympic ticket to Paris-2024 against a very difficult opponent, the three-time world champion Adeline Gray from the United States.
The Youth Olympic champion in Buenos Aires-2018 and world champion in the youth and U23 categories, only lost on Tuesday in the semifinals to Japan's Yuka Kagami, who won 5-2 to advance to the title.
Previously, the Cuban had beaten Italy's Enrica Rinaldi (10-0), the difficult Ecuadorian Genesis Rosangela Reasco (5-4) and Ukraine's Anastasiya Alpyeyeva 6-2.
Also competing for Cuba on Tuesday was Yuneylis Guzman, 50 kg, who lost in her first outing on the mat to Mariya Stadnik of Azerbaijan, 7-2.
The world championship awards five places in each of the divisions for next year's Olympic Games in the French capital.
