Havana, February 26 (JIT) - The American Gwen Jorgensen, Rio 2016 Olympic champion, won the VIII Havana Triathlon, held with the presence of about 300 competitors from 16 nations.

Jorgensen crossed the finish line located at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba with a time of 1:59:42 hours, leaving no doubt of her intentions to return to the Olympic concert.

Second was Poland's Roksana Slupek and third was Mexico's Ana María Torres.

The best Cuban triathlete, Leslie Amat, came in tenth place.

Among the men, Ireland's James Edgar (1:44:39) led, followed by the American Darr Smith and Poland's Michal Oliwa.

Alejandro Rodríguez (1:52:30), the best Cuban triathlete of the moment, came in 20th place, far behind the leader.

In the event, awards were given to the swimmers of the popular sprint and by age and sex categories, and Rolando Herrera Agón, technical director of the Havana Triathlon, and the former Colombian Ironman record holder, Carlos Arciniegas, 84, were recognized for their performance.
