Havana, April 18 (RHC)-- The Cuban national futsal team qualified for the next World Futsal Championship with a 4-1 victory over the Dominican Republic in the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Pre-World Cup in Nicaragua.
With their victory, the Cubans advanced to the semifinals of the tournament, although they already have a ticket in their pocket for next year's World Cup in Uzbekistan.
In addition to beating the Dominican Republic, the Cubans beat Panama 3-2 in the tournament, and tied against Canada 5-5 and Nicaragua 2-2.
This is the sixth time in history that the Cuban futsal team has qualified for a World Cup, after attending the editions of 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008 (where it achieved its first victory), 2016 and now 2024.
