Havana, April 22 (JIT)-- Cubans José Ramón Pelier (C1) and Daylen Rodríguez (K1) will fight for Olympic tickets in the Pan American Speed Canoe Championships in Sarasota, scheduled for the 23rd to the 25th of this month.
“We have trained hard. We have only one opportunity," Jit Pelier, the most experienced with a presence in Tokyo 2020, told the newspaper.
Pelier will compete in the C1-1000 meters, where he showed excellent credentials in his last major competition, the Pan American Games in Santiago 2023, by beating the Brazilian Isaquías Queiroz, multiple world, Olympic and continental champion.
Daylen will attempt the feat of becoming the first Cuban kayaker to be in the Olympic Games.
The event will grant two tickets per category for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Cuban canoeing already has the C1 to 2oom world champion, Yarisleidis Cirilo, qualified for Paris.
