France volleyball team

Havana, July 1 (RHC) - France won the men's Volleyball Nations League (VNL) title with a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Japan in the final in the Polish city of Lodz.

To their Tokyo 2020 Olympic title, the French team added the VNL crown.

The Olympic champions fell in the opening set 25-23, but then prevailed in the following, 25-18, 25-23, and 25-23.

Patry (24) and Tillie (13) stood out individually for the French, while for the Japanese Ishikawa (17) shone, seconded by the left-handed Nishida (11).

The match was very even, but from a collective point of view France was far superior to Japan in blocking (11-5).

For the bronze medal, the host team of Poland defeated its Slovenian counterpart 3-0.

Cuban nationalized Polish Wilfredo Leon, stood out for the winners with 18 points, accompanied in the attack by Tomasz Fornal (11), while Slovenia's Klemen Cebulj (14) and Toncek Stern (11) were the top scorers.
