Race for World Peace
Havana, July 8 (RHC) The Cuban Institute of Sports, INDER, and the South African Embassy in Cuba called today for the Mandela and Fidel Race for World Peace, to be held on July 20.
According to the digital site Jit, this event that pays tribute to the main political figures of both nations will be run in the facilities of the Ciudad Deportiva and will be a qualifier for the Marabana 2024.
The director of the National Commission of Marabana-Maracuba Races and Walks, Carlos Gattorno, told Inder's official media that the 10-kilometer circuit will start and finish at the Ciudad Deportiva.
The organizers will award prizes to the first three places of each sex and to the winners of each association of people with disabilities.
In addition, the first 1,000 runners to cross the finish line will receive a medal, a sweater and a certificate of qualification for Marabana 2024.
This will be the last 10-kilometer qualifying race for the main long-distance event in Cuba, while for the half marathon the closing race will be the Olympic Ideal, scheduled for August 13.
