President of the IOC and Cuban sports executives
Paris, Jul 18 (JIT) - The president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, exchanged in Paris with the vice-president of Inder Omar Venegas and the general director of high performance of that organization, José Antonio Miranda.
At the end of the morning meeting of the organizers with representatives of the countries present in the village of the event, Bach wished success to the island and inquired about the schedule of arrival of its competitors.
In that sense, he showed special interest in the four-time Olympic champion wrestler Mijaín López, who covers a training base in Bulgaria and will be one of the great attractions of the event that will have its opening ceremony on the 26th.
He also greeted the president of the Cuban Olympic Committee, Roberto León Richards, and was interested in the first impressions caused by the venue that will host most of the protagonists of the event under the five rings.
Venegas and Miranda thanked for the gesture, as well as for the IOC's contribution to the equipment provided by Adidas to the Cuban delegation, and reiterated that this will contribute to the atmosphere of healthy competitiveness and solidarity that should distinguish the competition.
