Havana, Sep 2 (ACN) The world record holder and Paralympic champion of Tokyo 2020 Omara Durand qualified directly today for the final of the 400 meters flat (T12) of the Parathletics tournament of the 17th edition of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
According to the website of the Parisian multisport event, the Santiago native advanced easily to the medal discussion with a time of 55.36 seconds in the third heat, a result that guaranteed her progress in the fight for the medals, as a favorite to climb to the top of the podium along with her guide Junior Kindelán.
Omara will be in the important event escorted by the Russian Ana Kulinich-Sorokina (57.26), who competes for the independent team, and the Brazilian Ketyla Teodoro (58.86), with stage at the Stade de France.
The first four of the preliminary heats advanced directly to the final, while the four best runners-up advanced to the semifinal.
