Havana, Nov 23 (JIT) - Four Cuban women, three of them members of the most recent Olympic team, will participate in the Women's Continental Chess Championship of Santo Domingo 2024, in the Dominican Republic.

Yerisbel Miranda from Pinar del Río, together with Oleiny Linares and Yaniela Forgas from Santiago de Cuba, make up the trio that represented the Island in the Olympic Games held this year in Budapest and are now among those who could make more strength for the only ticket that will be granted for the next Women's World Cup.

The young Leannet Mariah Bosch, also from Santiago, completes the Cuban representation in the competition, which so far has a registration of 50 players from 16 nations.

The classic segment, of nine rounds by the Swiss system, will be animated by seven Grandmasters, in addition to the Peruvian International Master without distinction of sex Deysi Cori, owner of the highest Elo with 2,353 points.

Argentina's Candela Belen Francisco will defend the crown she won a year ago in the Cuban capital, when the event was held at the same time as the Capablanca in Memoriam, both held at the Habana Libre Hotel in the capital.

Thalia Cervantes, a Cuban representing the United States, is among the main entertainers of the competition, along with Chile's Javiera Belen Gomez, Ecuador's Carla Heredia and Colombia's Valentina Argote.

Three days of double round-robin play will take place at the Dominican Olympic Hostel. In addition to the direct ticket to the World Cup, the winner of the tournament will secure the title of Grand Master, in case she has not reached it.
