Bolivian President Evo Morales

Lima, August 19 (RHC)-- A new poll has revealed that 77 percent of Bolivians believe that President Evo Morales' leadership has been decisive for the country's national development in the past decade.  The poll, carried out by Equipos Mori, also found that 56 percent were satisfied with the general situation of the country.

Much of South America is experiencing economic difficulties as a result of a slowdown in demand from key trading partners and the drop in the price of export commodities.  Bolivia, however, has largely avoided the issues facing some of its neighbors and its economy is set to grow at 5 percent this year.

Much of the success seems to be attributed to President Evo Morales, who received a 62 percent approval rating in the poll.  Evo Morales' political opponents did not fare so well, with only 25 percent supporting the opposition.

Historically, Bolivia was one of South America's most unstable countries, since Evo's arrival to the presidency in 2006, the country has enjoyed economic growth and political calm.
