Mexico City, March 10 (RHC-PL) --  Mexico's National Defense Secretary Salvador Cienfuegos said that the Army would remain in the streets heeding a demand by the citizenry suffering from the actions of local criminal groups.

Cienfuegos said the armed forces would increase their presence in the different regions of the country. ”What we are looking for is to diversify our forces, to have greater cover in the national territory,” he said, noting that it was an order received from the president he said in statements

The comments by the Mexican Defense minister were made in the state of Coahuila, where barracks will be built for the Military Police. The minister urged the Mexican Congress to work on an interior security bill that would support the Army presence in the streets and define the powers of the different authorities in the fight against crime.
