Kabul, February 11 (RHC)-- The U.S.-led Western military alliance says at least two civilian contractors working for occupation forces have been killed in a bomb attack in eastern Afghanistan. This comes after a car bomb explosion targeted a convoy of U.S.-led forces in the country’s troubled east on Monday. NATO has confirmed that two of its civilian contractors were killed in the deadly explosion.

A NATO statement released in Kabul says: “Two International Security Assistance Force contracted-civilians died as the result of a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device attack in eastern Afghanistan.” In line with the ISAF policy, the statement did not disclose the contractors' nationality, nor did it provide further details on the exact whereabouts of the incident.

The militant group said it would use "every possible tactic" to inflict casualties on Afghan and U.S.-led forces, specifically pointing to insider and bomb attacks. The increasing number of foreign casualties in Afghanistan has caused widespread anger in the U.S. and other NATO member states, undermining public support for the Afghan war.

The U.S. and its allies invaded Afghanistan in 2001 as part of Washington’s so-called war on terror. The offensive removed the Taliban from power, but the country is still gripped by insecurity.
