Tegucigalpa, December 18 (RHC)-- The candidate of the Alliance of Opposition against the Dictatorship, Salvador Nasralla, reiterated on Sunday his accusations of electoral fraud in Honduras and called Juan Orlando Hernández an impostor.

"It is clear that there was fraud before, during and after the elections (...) The President of the Republic at this moment is an impostor, and the Honduran people know it," Nasralla said in a video posted on Facebook.

Nasralla made the remarks while on his way to Washington, where he is expected to meet Monday with the secretary general of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro.

The opposition candidate considered that proclaiming Hernández the winner is a "desperate measure" in response to Nasrallah’s trip to the United States.

They will not be able to "stop the people who are going to continue with the peaceful demonstrations to defend their popular will," he added.

The Supreme Electoral Tribunal on Sunday declared Juan Orlando Hernández the official winner of the November 26 presidential elections.

The tribunal said that Hernandez beat Nasralla by 1.53 percentage points, according to the official count.

In a nationally televised address, tribunal head David Matamoros said all the challenges presented to it had been resolved and votes were recounted at select polling stations, declaring Hernandez “the president-elect for the Republic of Honduras.”

OAS Secretary General Luis Almagro questioned the tribunal’s decision. He said the election was marred by irregularities and deficiencies and called for a new general election

Former Honduran president Manuel Zelaya said that the population rejects JOH as the winner of the elections and urged people to take to the streets in protest.
