Caracas, Aug 18 (RHC) Venezuela has strongly rejected a US Department of State press release on the frustrated assassination attempt against President Nicolás Maduro last August 4, planned in the United States, according to Venezuelan authorities.
In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry, the Bolivarian government repudiated the 'cynical accusations' made by US authorities, 'whose sole purpose is to once more meddle in Venezuelan internal politics' and favor 'the political group that promotes destabilization and violence in the country'.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that Washington today leads no less than seven armed conflicts around the world' invoking the fight against terrorism while minimizing the seriousness of the attack perpetrated against the political and military authorities of Venezuela.
It also noticed that the United States raises false accusations against Venezuelan judicial processes, in open ignorance of the laws of the South American nation.
Venezuela recalled that it has invited the US government to participate in the investigations of the assassination attempt, "as long as it is in a spirit of true search for justice and not an attempt to cover it up or to protect terrorists."
On Friday, the US government criticized what it called "arbitrary arrests" and demanded "safeguarding the presumption of innocence" of those accused of participating in the frustrated assassination against President Nicolás Maduro.
The authorities of Caracas have requested the extradition of individuals linked to the terrorist attack who are currently in the United States.
