Baghdad, March 14 (RHC)-- Iraq will file official complaints at the U.N. General Assembly and its Security Council about a recent Pentagon bombing of positions in the Arab country.

The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs assured the pan-Arab channel Al-Mayadeen on Saturday that this American attack constitutes a violation by the United States.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry stressed that, despite internal differences, the Arab nation is committed to the defense of dignity and sovereignty.

The note specifies that the U.S. aggression undermines efforts to combat terrorism and violates the agreement between Baghdad and an international coalition led by the Pentagon.

Reportedly, overnight U.S. airstrikes on Friday killed six people. Iraq described the actions as a violation of sovereignty and targeted aggression against the nation's regular armed forces.

President Barham Salih said such "repeated violations" could cause Iraq to unravel into a failed state and revive the Islamic State  group.
