Geneva, June 26 (RHC)-- The World Health Organization has declared an end to an outbreak of Ebola virus in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which killed nearly 2,300 people after it erupted in August of 2018.
The WHO’s regional director for Africa, Dr. Matshidiso Moeti, said: “It wasn’t easy, and at times it seemed like a mission impossible. Ending this Ebola outbreak is a sign of hope for the region and for the world that with solidarity and science and courage and commitment, even the most challenging epidemics can be controlled.”
