Quito, February 2 (RHC)-- Ecuadorian analyst Mauro Andino says that a scenario is being plotted to hinder the presidential elections that should be held constitutionally next Sunday.  "We are witnessing an electoral process with profound irregularities, and seeing attempts to eliminate political organizations, change the date and time of the presidential elections," said Andino.

Andino pointed out that regarding the complaint filed by councilor Luis Verdesoto against the candidate for the Union de la Esperanza (UNES), Andres Arauz, to prevent his candidacy.   Andino emphasized that the complaint has no legal basis or validity.

Although the electoral authorities were unable to suspend the elections, the Ecuadorian analyst pointed out that in case of a victory of Arauz, a process of this denunciation could be opened.  "They want to leave the process open and in case Arauz wins, they could try to suspend his political rights", he added.

The Andean analyst informed that the authorities of the National Electoral Council of the country by barely proceeding in the printing of the ballots, incurring in inefficiency, "today they would print the ballots for Andean parliamentarians but it is impossible for them to distribute them throughout the country so that the people can elect", he stated.

"Humanly speaking, it is impossible to distribute all the ballots, because there are countries where it takes up to five days to transport them (...) the opposition intends to prevent Arauz's triumph", indicated Andino.

Likewise, the analyst expressed that it is important that alternative media make the electoral day visible in detail, "it is very important the electoral control that the political organizations and the alternative and digital media must make so that the results are respected," he pointed out.
