The South American president was received at Mexico City International Airport by Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard Casaubón and the Argentine ambassador to the country, Carlos Tomada.

"Welcome President Alberto Fernandez, friend of Mexico and loyal promoter of Latin American causes," Ebrard wrote on his Twitter account.  "Your presence underscores the brotherhood between the Mexican and Argentinean peoples and opens the way to new advances for the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States," he added.

Among the activities that Fernández is scheduled to carry out is a meeting on Tuesday with his Mexican counterpart, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, and his participation in the ceremony for the 200th anniversary of the Plan of Iguala, on Wednesday.

According to his agenda, Fernández will meet with Mexican business people with investments in Argentina. Later he will visit the Liomont laboratory, where the active substance of the vaccine against COVID-19 is packaged.  AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford are developing the vaccine in the Argentinean laboratory mAbxience.
