Peruvians vote in crucial presidential elections

Lima, June 6 (RHC)-- Peruvians are going to the polls to elect their new president between candidates Pedro Castillo and Keiko Fujimori.

Peruvian citizens living abroad, around one million, started this Sunday to participate in the second round of the presidential elections.

The Peruvian Foreign Ministry indicated on its Twitter account that the first Peruvians who exercised their right to vote were, due to the time zone, the residents of the cities of Auckland and Wellington, in New Zealand.

Likewise, Peruvians living in the cities of Canberra and Sydney, in Australia, did the same.  Peruvians living in Seoul, South Korea and Malaysia were the first to go to the consulates set up as voting centers.

Similar scenes were experienced in Singapore, Indonesia, in the Chinese cities of Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Shanghai, in Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines and Japan.

This Sunday, Peruvians will elect their new president between the candidates Pedro Castillo, of the Peru Libre party, and Keiko Fujimori, of Fuerza Popular.
