Buenos Aires, June 28 (RHC)-- The president of Argentina, Alberto Fernandez participated this Sunday in a ceremony of homage to the fatal victims of COVID-19 in his country, held at the Kirchner Cultural Center (CCK) in Buenos Aires.

"Each one of the people who were victims of the pandemic had a name, a life, each one had a daughter, son, siblings, mothers, fathers, relatives and friends."  And the Argentinean presdient emphasized that "those who have gone in these painful moments will never be forgotten."

With the health situation, "we are witnessing a cataclysm that is hitting humanity," he said when heading the commemorative event together with his wife and representatives of different areas of society, the Afro-Argentinean community and essential workers, among other authorities of his Cabinet and local leaders.

"The best thing we can do as a society is to turn so much sorrow into strength and impulse to build the future of our country, with diversity and without irreconcilable divisions", said the Argentine head of government.

The President also urged to take care of the country so that "between all of us, together, we will defeat the pandemic."  "Our tribute will be to build a united and supportive Argentina," he added.

Some of the governors present were those of San Juan, Sergio Uñac; Formosa, Gildo Insfrán; of Neuquén, Omar Gutiérrez; and of Santiago del Estero, Gerardo Zamora. The governor of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, and the head of the Buenos Aires government, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, also participated.

Finally, the Argentinean president invited everyone to share "a moment of recollection for Argentina, with the aim of jointly reflecting and remembering those who lost their lives during the pandemic."

"In the face of the pain and losses caused by the pandemic, it is important that all Argentina can meet in a moment of union and memory."
