Buenos Aires, July 31 (RHC)-- The largest immunization plan in the history of the Argentinean province of Buenos Aires, conceived to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, began its free vaccination phase on Friday for people over 18 years old in 400 health posts.

According to local media, the measure benefits people from all the province and only requires the previous presentation of the national identity card (DNI) without the need to be previously registered.

Press reports highlight that the Undersecretariat of International and Institutional Relations and the Ministry of Health of the region, among other institutions, managed the access of foreign citizens to this public, free and optional immunization plan against Covid-19.

The Government of the Province of Buenos Aires reported that 122,740 people have been vaccinated so far this day. These are in addition to the total number of individuals immunized with at least the first dose (9,493,118) and with the second dose (2,359,685), including those over 18 years of age with comorbidities.

Health authorities also informed that, during the last day, 3,618 new infections were connfirmed, which brings the total number of Covid-19 positive cases in the province of Buenos Aires to 1,968,380.

In response to this epidemiological situation, the territory continues to promote mass vaccination. In this sense, its governor, Axel Kicillof, estimated that 95 percent of the registered people of all ages will be immunized in the urban cone of Buenos Aires by next month.
