Caracas, August 10 (RHC)-- Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has called on the elected candidates and the militancy of the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) to preserve unity in order to be victorious in the elections next November.

In a message posted on his Twitter account, Nicolas Maduro said: "I invite the elected candidates and all those who participated to continue united for victory."

Next November 21, Venezuelans will go to the polls to elect new governors, mayors and members of the legislative councils and municipal councils.  In total, more than 3,000 positions will be renewed in what are being called Mega Elections.

President Maduro, in his tweet, saluted the Internal Electoral Commission and the PSUV militancy "for this beautiful effort made in the successful" open primary elections of that political group.

In the primaries of the ruling party's political institute, some 3,500,000 Venezuelans were able to exercise their right to vote, "a number that cannot be underestimated due to a process that generally would not summon a broad mass of voters as a presidential election, for example", observed the analysis group Misión Verdad on its website.
