Lima, August 14 (RHC)-- The president of Peru, Pedro Castillo, said Friday that his government will promote a foreign policy based on "integrationist vocation" and non-intervention.

"The integrationist vocation of the Peruvian people and its spirit of brotherhood and friendship with all the countries of the world will increase during my government", added the president during the protocol greeting to the Diplomatic Corps accredited in that country.

Castillo also condemned "embargoes and unilateral sanctions that only affect peoples."  In addition, he specified that Peruvian foreign policy "is based on active multilateralism, international law, economic, social and cultural integration, respect for human rights, and the principle of non-intervention."

The Peruvian president stressed that diplomats from any nation in the world will always find "the open and extended hand" of Peru.  "It is the hand of the Peruvian people that seeks to maintain peaceful, constructive and mutually beneficial relations; without any distinction whatsoever, and without qualifications of any kind".

The Peruvian head of state expressed the importance of global governance governed by democracy and respect for human rights. A principle that he will promulgate in his governmental administration, "with the people and for the people", and in a renewed effort to strengthen the social agenda.

Castillo urged the increase of economic and trade relations, "in conditions of mutual and fair exchange, which will allow the reactivation of our economies," and urged the modernization of the Andean Community (CAN) "under a new model of multidimensional integration."
