Santiago de Chile, September 21 (RHC)-- Chilean constituent Rodrigo Rojas Vade has resigned from the Constitutional Convention through a video posted on his social network Instagram, after the media and political controversy about the cancer he said he had and that was denied by him years later.

Rodrigo Rojas Vade said he resigns from the Constitutional Convention and will not attend again, connect remotely, or participate in any voting independently of his health condition.  "I will not work in the Convention and will submit my resignation.  The new constitution must represent a dignified country where those who make mistakes recognize it and assume its consequences," said the Chilean politician.

"I express from now on my wish that 155 will be the ones to defend the political constitution project and leave behind the ill-fated Magna Carta of 1980," he added.  "Just like the millions who took to the streets on October 18 and have defended the process to reach it, my commitment has always been real," said the constituent.

Likewise, Rojas apologized to all the people who have felt betrayed.  "I have made very serious mistakes, but no crime.  My illness is real.  The money I received in a solidarity activity was destined to settle debts acquired due to my medical problems."

The former People's Leader pointed out that he is not a criminal, but someone who made a mistake.  "I am not looking for privileges yesterday, and I am not looking for them today. I will be protesting in the streets every time I think it is necessary," he added.
