Des Moines, September 22 (RHC)-- The latest poll in the U.S. state of Iowa has shown that most Iowans disapprove of the job Joe Biden is doing as the president of the United States.  The results from the Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll showed 62 percent of Iowans disapprove of how Biden is handling his job, 31 percent approve him, and the rest are undecided.

The poll of 805 Iowa adults conducted between Sept. 12 and 15 with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points indicated a steep drop from a similar poll earlier this year.

Analysts link Americans' growing disapproval of Biden over what they see as his mishandling of the economy, as well as failure to end the COVID-19 pandemic.

Biden's approval slide seems also to be linked to the chaotic U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan and the critical coverage it received after the messy pullout, highlighting the loss of lives and limbs, and the heavy expenses that American taxpayers shouldered for going on with the war that lasted for two long decades and eventually ended in Americans' defeat and their humiliating exit.

An overwhelming majority of people in the United States believe the nation is headed down the wrong direction, according to a new survey.  "This is a bad poll for Joe Biden, and it's playing out in everything that he touches right now,” said J. Ann Selzer, President of the Iowa-based polling firm Selzer & Company.

Meanwhile, Biden's Democratic party is heading into a midterm cycle, where the president’s party generally faces an uphill battle to retain control of the US House of Representatives, and with another challenge from the Republican Party rival, either Donald Trump or a successor, likely looming in the 2024 U.S. presidential election.
