Santiago de Chile, October 10 (RHC)-- Carabineros repressed several protests that were took place over the weekend in Santiago de Chile against President Sebastián Piñera, who was pointed out in a corruption case, after the journalistic investigation called Pandora's Papers became known.

The people demanded the dismissal of President Piñera for corruption and human rights violations, among other demands.  Students displayed a gigantic banner in the sector of Plaza de la Dignidad with the message "Enough of corruption in our lands, out Piñera".

Carabineros Public Order Control personnel (militarized police) arrived at the site to disperse the demonstrators who were interrupting traffic, using umbrella launchers and tear gas bombs.

The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists published an investigation known as Pandora' Papers in which they accuse different world leaders of hiding their fortunes to avoid paying taxes in their respective countries.

It showed that in 2010, while he was in his first term (2010-2014), Piñera's companies sold the property of one of the most important and ambitious mining projects of recent times in the country, Minera Dominga, in a transaction carried out in the territory of the British Virgin Islands, a tax haven.
