Tegucigalpa, November 28 (RHC)-- Presidential candidate Xiomara Castro, of the Libertad y Refundación (Libre) party and wife of former President Manuel Zelaya, has a substantial lead in Sunday's elections in Honduras.
The first official announcement of preliminary results by the Consejo Nacional Electoral (CNE), with 16 percent of the votes counted, gives 53.34 percent of the votes to Xiomara Castro. Her closest rival, Nasry Asfura of the ruling National Party, garnered 34.01 percent of the ballots.
