Washington, January 25 (RHC)-- In the U.S., the Joe Biden administration has ordered federal agencies to enact the new $15-an-hour minimum wage for federal employees by the end of the month.  The change will affect nearly 70,000 workers.  Biden signed an executive order raising the minimum wage for federal workers and contractors last April.

In other U.S. labor news, new legislation granting protections and rights to delivery app workers in New York City goes into effect today. The new laws were pushed by the labor group Los Deliveristas Unidos and essential workers who kept the city running throughout the pandemic.

The guarantees include a fair minimum wage, tip transparency and access to restaurant bathrooms. Workers say they will continue to push for more protections.
