Los Angeles, June 10 (RHC)-- As part of the closing of the Peoples' Summit, former Bolivian President Evo Morales said Friday that the coercive policies promoted by the United States have failed.

The leader of the Movement Towards Socialism / Political Instrument for the Sovereignty of the Peoples (MAS-IPSP) highlighted the importance of remembering that the policies carried by successive U.S. administrations, such as the Cold War and the fight against terrorism are a resounding failure.

"The U.S. proclaims democracy, but by excluding Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua, it lies to the whole world (because) that is not democracy.  It also claims to defend freedom, but excludes from the Summit of the Americas peoples who have freed themselves from the Empire.  What a contradiction."

Likewise, he pointed out that previously "being expelled" from the Organization of American States (OAS) caused fear, but now it is something worthy.  "Almost 200 years of America for the Americans, now this generation proclaims a plurinational America of the peoples for the peoples," he emphasized.

Evo Morales added that the democratic uprising of the peoples in the face of the Empire is underway.   "They (the United States) are still trying to impose policies through interventionism, policies of economic plundering of natural resources almost everywhere in the world," said the Bolivian leader.  He urged to continue "in this hard struggle with unity for our freedom and, above all, respect for cultural diversity, which is the wealth of our dignity."
