Quito, July 20 (RHC)-- The president of the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (Conaie), Leonidas Iza, reported on Tuesday that the technical tables of dialogue with the Government will resume from next July 26th.

The indigenous leader affirmed that progress has been made in the two initial tables, related to the financial sphere with public and private banks, and fuel subsidies, a topic they hope to resume and deepen.

He also referred to the importance of implementing a round table to seek references for Decree 452, regarding price control, since the Ecuadorian people suffer speculative rates in basic products and need concrete results.

Logically, the points of agreement have to be pragmatized and in those that we do not have, surely we have to continue debating and advancing," but "we will be concluding the tables, whether we have agreements or not," Iza assured, to energize the dialogue process in the 10 established tables.

According to what was agreed last week between the government and several social organizations in the Act for Peace, the negotiators will have 90 days to deal with the issues of the common agenda.

In addition to those mentioned above, they will also address the chapters on Collective Rights and Higher Education, Protection of National Investments, Productive Development, Access to Health and Security, Employment and Labor Rights, and Energy and Natural Resources.

The government of President Guillermo Lasso called to install the tables to channel social demands, after 18 days of nationwide protests and a legislative debate calling for his impeachment.
