Port-au-Prince, October 25 (RHC)-- Hundreds of Haitians took to the streets this Tuesday to protest against the possibility of a foreign intervention and to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Ariel Henry, in the midst of the severe crisis experienced by the nation.

The demonstrators demanded the creation of a transitional government in favor of a national agreement to call elections to solve the power vacuum in the country.  

Haitian journalist, Roberson Alphonse, was attacked on Tuesday and wounded, for which he is receiving medical treatment in a hospital in Port-au-Prince.  The journalist was shot in the vicinity of Delmas 40 when he was on his way in his car, which was shot more than ten times, to the radio station to present the Magik 9 program.

Local sources affirmed that Alphonse is in stable condition while the leitmotiv of the aggression, which could trigger an escalation of violence against journalists, is still unknown.

As a result, the demonstrators are demanding the resignation of the Prime Minister due to his incapacity to handle in a sovereign manner the complex situation characterized by inflation, the violence of the armed gangs, the popular discontent and the illegitimacy of the institutions.

On October 7, the Haitian government requested the intervention of international forces to confront the armed violence, which has provoked the worsening of the crisis in the face of the rejection of foreign aid.
