Brasilia, December 25 (RHC)-- The Civil Police of the state of Brasília, report that they have arrested a citizen when he tried to explode a fuel truck in the area of the airport of the Federal District President Juscelino Kubitschek in Brazil.

According to statements made by the head of the Civil Police of the Federal District (PCDF), Robson Candido, if the bomb had not been intercepted, it would have been a disaster and would have claimed the lives of about 200 passengers who were on board a plane.

The intention was to explode this material," said the senior official, who confirmed that the person responsible for the act, identified as George Washington de Oliveira Sousa, declared he was a supporter of outgoing President Jair Bolsonaro.

"The authorities should take all precautions and learn.  This is a situation that has never existed in Brazil, and we will not allow a manifestation that can cause harm to people and Brazilian patrimony," expressed Robson Candido.

According to the media Brasil 347, Robson Candido stated that "we have no idea how many people collaborated with him, but the investigations will be deepened.  The police will act, and will act rigorously."

Local platforms also indicated that George Washington de Oliveira Sousa used explosives from gold mines and quarries in Pará and arrived in Brasília shortly after the defeat of Jair Bolsonaro in the second round of the elections, on October 31.  Police sources said that since then, he participated in protest actions in front of the Army Headquarters, calling for a military intervention to prevent Lula da Silva from becoming president.

The current senator and future Minister of Justice Flavio Dino expressed from his Twitter account that "the serious events that occurred yesterday in Brasilia prove that the so-called 'patriotic' camps have become incubators of terrorists" and "armamentism generates other degenerations.  Overcoming it is a priority," he said.
