Brasilia, January 3 (RHC)-- The president of the Venezuelan National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, attended on Monday a ceremony to hand over the building of the Venezuelan Embassy, which had remained closed since the illegal break-in of a group of supporters of opposition leader Juan Guaidó in 2019.

Rodriguez traveled to the neighboring country for the inauguration of Luiz Inácio Lula Da Silva and was invited by local social movements to this symbolic handover of the diplomatic headquarters to the government of Nicolás Maduro.

"In the years to come, Venezuela will never forget the gesture and accompaniment that you had with us," he said.

Shortly before his mandate came to an end, at the end of last December, outgoing President Jair Bolsonaro eliminated the ban for his Venezuelan peer to enter Brazil, established by a 2019 decree.
