Caracas, August 19 (PL-RHC) -- After five days and stopovers in Brazil, Senegal, Algeria and Malta, a plane from the Venezuelan Navy has arrived in Egypt with relief aid for Palestinians affected by the conflict in Gaza.
Dina Ismail, a spokesperson of the Egyptian Red Crescent Society which received the consignment, described the Venezuelan gesture as "very valuable especially since it is humanitarian effort from a very distant place." She said so far the Red Crescent Society had received assistance, including medicine and food, from nine countries.
The Venezuelan plane landed at a military airport in Ismailia, some 140 km from Cairo.
“Now begins the very difficult phase for the consignment to be taken to Areish, and from there to the border checkpoint at Rafah,” noted the Venezuelan Ambassador to Cairo, Juan Antonio Hernandez.
