Candidates Luisa González and Andrés Arauz
Quito, June 11 (RHC)-- The Citizen Revolution movement of Ecuador presented this Saturday in the city of Portoviejo, province of Manabí (west), Luisa González and Andrés Arauz as its candidates to dispute the presidency and vice-presidency of the country in the next elections, scheduled for August 20.
The presentation of the Binomio de la Esperanza took place during an even t with activists and supporters, held at the Centro de Eventos La Esperanza. The candidates for Assembly members were also presented.
Luisa Magdalena González Alcívar graduated from the Universidad Internacional del Ecuador, where she graduated as a lawyer. She has a master's degree in Senior Management (Instituto de Altos Estudios Nacionales) and in International Economics and Development (Universidad Complutense de Madrid).
She has been part of the Ecuadorian public administration since 2016, when she served as undersecretary general of Public Administration. The following year she was appointed advisor at Correos del Ecuador, consul general of Ecuador in Alicante, Spain, and secretary general of the Superintendence of Companies, Securities and Insurance.
Between 2018 and 2019 she was national secretary of the Andean Parliament and has also been appointed as deputy minister of Tourism and Labor. A local corporate media published that "in the National Assembly, González was recognized as one of Correa's staunchest defenders."
Andrés David Arauz Galarza was a candidate for the Ecuadorian Presidency during the 2021 elections, together with journalist and engineer Carlos Rabascall. They won the first round, but were overtaken by Lasso in the runoff.
He holds a degree in Economics and Mathematics (University of Michigan, USA), a master's degree in Development Economics (Flacso-Ecuador) and is a doctoral candidate in Financial Economics (National Autonomous University of Mexico) and is 38 years old.
Between 2015 and 2017, he served as coordinating minister of Knowledge and Human Talent. He was in charge of the portfolio of Culture and Heritage in 2017. He is a member of the Advisory Council of Progressive International, founded in 2020.
Previously, between 2011 and 2013, Andrés Arauz was banking general director of the Central Bank of Ecuador. In successive years he would be undersecretary of the National Secretariat of Planning and Development, and general director of the National Public Procurement Service.
During the elections of next August 20th, the Presidency, Vice-Presidency and National Assembly will be renewed to conclude the constitutional period 2021-2025. The electoral campaign will take place from August 8th to the 17th. The candidates to the Presidency must participate in the electoral debates on a mandatory basis.
