Havana, June 26 (RHC) A timely intervention by Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and the union of all Russian military and political forces around the president and commander-in-chief of its armed forces, Vladimir Putin, were able to reverse possible bloodshed of incalculable consequences.

The private military group, (Wagner Group), operating in Russia since 2014, whose top leader is wealthy businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin, began this weekend, what President Putin called a "military mutiny", intended to occupy facilities and towns in Moscow.

According to the Sputnik website, the criminal case brought against the head of the Wagner Group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the main author of the revolt, will be dropped and the businessman "will go to Belarus".

The spokesman of the Russian presidency, Dmitry Peskov, declared that the fighters of the Wagner Group will not be prosecuted, and those who want to may be able to sign a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense. He also announced that the presidents of Russia and Belarus, Vladimir Putin and Aleksandr Lukashenko, agreed that Minsk will be a mediator for reaching the agreements, on the personal initiative of the Belarusian president.

Peskov also clarified that the situation created around the Wagner Group will not affect the course of the special operation in Ukraine.

For her part, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, on her Telegram channel, exposed that "senior Russian officials shared their opinion on the attempted armed mutiny in the country, perpetrated by the Wagner Group which is led by Yevgeny Prigozhin. All express their support for President Vladimir Putin and call for the people to unite to face this challenge together.

"We have one Commander-in-Chief. Not two, not three," she emphasized, and then warned that "the enemy is waiting for our infighting."

For his part, Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Vyacheslav Volodin expressed that the deputies of the State Duma advocate consolidation of forces and support Vladimir Putin.

The speaker of the Russian Federation Council (Upper House of Parliament), Valentina Matvienko, also confirmed the support of the Russian president and called for consolidation of the society after the events.

Let us hope that what was avoided this Sunday in Russia constitutes a lesson, not only for those who from inside the Slavic country are ringing the bells of war but especially for those who, from the anti-Russian West, fabricate the most aberrant lies and contribute to create a destabilizing atmosphere, without caring about the amount of blood that may be shed in that noble people.
