Miami, July 21 (RHC)-- In the U.S., Florida’s Board of Education approved new standards for teaching Black history after Governor Ron DeSantis and Florida Republicans passed new laws limiting what can be taught in classrooms as part of their “anti-woke” crusade.

The standards include teaching children that “slaves developed skills which, in some instances, could be applied for their personal benefit.”  It also instructs educators to teach about violence allegedly committed by Black people.

The Florida Education Association blasted the new standards, saying: “Gov. DeSantis is pursuing a political agenda guaranteed to set good people against one another, and in the process he’s cheating our kids.  They deserve the full truth of American history, the good and the bad.”
