More than 44 °C recorded for third heat wave in Spain

Havana, Aug 10 (RHC) Spain's State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) reported Wednesday the highest temperatures of the third heat wave affecting that country, where several points exceeded 40 degrees Celsius.

The institution recorded the highest temperature of the day at the station La Roda, Andalusia, Seville province, where at 16H40 (local time) thermometers marked 44.6 degrees Celsius.

In turn, the station of Granada Airport, Granada province, recorded at 16H30 (local time) 44.1 degrees Celsius, followed by the station of Andujar, Jaen province, which reported at 17H00 (local time) 43.0 degrees Celsius.

As a result, the AEMET extended until this Friday the alerts for extreme heat while high temperatures will extend until next Sunday with a high risk of fires.

Also, the authorities warned about the possible occurrence in the Cantabrian Sea of galerna, which is a stormy storm that could cause sudden strong gusts of wind. (Source: TeleSur)
