Minister Mesganu Arga, in meeting with representatives of UN specialized agencies.

Addis Ababa, Sep 1 (RHC) The Ethiopian government reiterated Friday its commitment to improve the humanitarian situation in the country, particularly in the northern Amhara region, and to work together with various United Nations agencies.

This was stated by State Minister for Political and Economic Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mesganu Arga, during a meeting with representatives of these specialized agencies to provide an update on the nation.

Arga referred to recent developments and government efforts to accelerate, together with aid agencies, the delivery of supplies and food, quoted by the local Foreign Ministry on its social network X account.

On the situation in Amhara, currently in a state of emergency due to the insecurity crisis caused by armed groups he noted that the region is returning to normalcy with the restoration of basic services and has a new administration.

He urged humanitarian agencies to speed up the immediate and full resumption of food deliveries in areas where there are several vulnerable people in need of urgent supplies.

For their part, UN agency representatives, while commending the efforts of the Ethiopian government, stressed the importance of resuming food aid to those most in need to avoid further exacerbation of the deteriorating humanitarian situation. (Source:PL)
