Beijing, Sep 2 (RHC) Chinese President Xi Jinping pledged Saturday to promote cross-border trade in services in an orderly manner, improve its standardization and expand institutional openness.
The president made these statements via teleconference during the World Summit on Trade in Services, an event that is part of the International Trade in Services Fair -CIFTIS.
"In order to build a more open and inclusive development environment, China will expand a network of high-standard world-oriented free trade zones," Xi announced.
In addition, the Asian giant plans to further develop its service sector in fields such as telecommunications, tourism, and legal and vocational training assessments.
According to official data, during the first seven months of the year, trade volume in this area increased by 8.1 percent compared to the same period in 2022 and stood at 3.67 trillion yuan (511.2 billion dollars).
Xi Jinping also advocated today for the free trade system and multilateralism.
Some 75 countries and international organizations confirmed their representation in this edition of CIFTIS 2023, one of the largest events of its kind in the world, which this year welcomes the United Kingdom as guest of honor.
Under the central theme "Openness leads development, cooperation creates a win-win future", the Fair will be held until September 6 in this capital city, specifically at the China National Convention Center and Shougang Park.
According to the organizers, this year's edition will cover a wide range of aspects on information, financial, health and sanitation, as well as environmental services.More than 70 renowned enterprises and institutions are prepared to showcase their achievements, and around 1,800 companies will participate in face-to-face and online exhibitions (Source: Prensa Latina).
