United Nations, September 27 (RHC)-- In the framework of the High Level General Debate of the 78th Session of the United Nations (UN), which began last week in New York, the Foreign Minister of Nicaragua, Denis Moncada, advocated on Tuesday for the defense of his country's sovereignty against the threats of imperialism.

The diplomat expressed his strong rejection to unilateral coercive measures, which are called, he stressed, "with arrogance and haughtiness sanctions" while he assured that "they do not define us, nor intimidate us, nor disable us, nor bend us, nor lead us to sell out or surrender."

Denis Moncada pointed out that these measures applied against nations such as Nicaragua, Cuba and Venezuela are "illegal and illegitimate" because they seek to impose changes of governments.  The Nicaraguan foreign minister demanded the UN to enforce the mandate of the International Court of Justice in The Hague on the recognition of the U.S. for the damages caused during "the insane and revanchist war imposed on our country and our people, in what was called the counterrevolution."

"At least the economic, social, productive and cultural infrastructure, which was shattered by their grotesque intervention, which as always, as every time, was defeated by the honor, integrity and glory of the Nicaraguan spirit, is being rebuilt for all Nicaraguans," he said.

In turn, the foreign minister called to advance towards the construction of a new global and multipolar order, meanwhile, he emphasized that currently "the imperialist and colonialist model" is being extinguished.

"Let us continue to break the chains of slavery and dependence, of subjugation and subordination, of servile obedience, which at this point in history, the selfish, ambitious and perfidious colonial and imperial interests continue to impose on us", he stressed.
