Managua, December 5 (RHC)-- The Nicaraguan government announced Monday the withdrawal of its ambassador to Argentina, Carlos Midence, prior to the inauguration of the far-right president-elect of that country, Javier Milei.

Through a statement, the Nicaraguan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the decision, which is effective immediately, was taken taking into account the statements of the new members of the Argentine Executive.

"In view of the installation and inauguration of a new Government in the Argentine Republic, inauguration that will take place next December 10, and in view of reiterated declarations and expressions of the new rulers, the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity of Nicaragua has proceeded to withdraw its ambassador, fellow writer and communicologist, Carlos Midence", reads the note.

According to local media, Medince presented his credentials as Nicaraguan ambassador to Argentina in August last year.  Previously, he was in charge of the Central American nation's diplomatic headquarters in Spain.

In this sense, the Sandinista government communicated that the departure of the diplomat in March 2022 was due to "continuous pressures and threats of interference" from Madrid, which, it said, prevented the exercise of the work in the European country.

Last November, Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo congratulated the Argentine president-elect "with our wishes for the welfare of the noble Argentine families".

"We are defenders of the principles of non-intervention, respect for the sovereignty and self-determination of peoples." said the communiqué, which also underlined the "exemplary and peaceful election day."
