Brasilia, February 14 (RHC)-- The president of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, reports on his account on the social network X that this Tuesday he has traveled to Egypt, and later will attend the meeting of the African Union.

"I am leaving for Egypt this Shrove Tuesday.  I will then visit Ethiopia to attend the African Union meeting.  Always working alongside Dr. Geraldo Alckmin.  Brazil has strong historical and cultural relations with the African continent and we must recover the potential of this partnership," said Lula da Silva in his message.

Brazil's vice-president, Geraldo Alckmin, also said on his X account that President Lula da Silva left for Africa, where he will carry out agendas in Egypt and Ethiopia, two of the new BRICS partners.

Noting that Brazil and Africa share a common cultural heritage, the vice-president also pointed out that both nations "advocate greater participation of developing countries in agendas that affect the entire planet, such as financial governance, food security and energy transition."

"The participation of President Lula da Silva in the African Union Summit, which became a member of the G20 with the support of our country, will be a great opportunity for Brazil to show that it is indeed back in the world, contributing constructively to issues that affect all of humanity. See you, President!", he said.

Meanwhile, the Ministry's Secretary for Africa and the Middle East, Ambassador Carlos Sérgio Sobral Duarte, affirmed that there is a coincidence between Brazil's international agenda and that of African countries.

"The greater participation of developing countries in the decisions of international organizations is an important aspiration, not only for Brazil, but also for Africans, for developing countries in general, and Africans are an important body of voices and votes," Duarte insisted.
