Rafah, June 1 (RHC)--  The Israeli military has killed at least 60 Palestinians over the past 24 hours across the Gaza Strip as Israeli tanks were rolling into central Rafah on Friday.  The fatalities were announced on Friday by the Gaza health ministry, which said the attacks had also wounded 280 others.  The Palestinian territory has been enduring the war since last October.

At least 36,284 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed and 82,057 others wounded in the brutal military onslaught that began following a retaliatory operation by Gaza’s resistance groups.

Also on Friday, the Israeli military reaching the “central” part of Rafah in southern Gaza, despite international outcry over the regime’s exceedingly deadly operations against the refugee-packed city.  The regime began a ground operation against Rafah in early May in defiance of some world organizations and leaders, who said the city’s hosted around 1.5 million displaced Gazans.

According to UNRWA, the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees, roughly one million people have fled the city since the onset of the Rafah operation.

Separately, the Israeli regime announced withdrawing from the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza following a 20-day offensive against the area that involved about 200 airstrikes.

According to Palestinian authorities, the offensive has destroyed 70 percent of Jabalia, which is Gaza's largest refugee camp and home to more than 100,000 Palestinians.

Various news outlets, meanwhile, cited the Palestinians returning to the camp following the Israeli withdrawal as describing the area as “unrecognizable” due to the sheer extent of the destruction that had been caused by the Israeli aggression.

"I swear to God, we don't even know where our homes are. We don’t know where our house is,” a Palestinian man told Reuters news agency.  “Find us a solution.  I swear to God this isn't right.  This isn't right. For nine months we have been patient, but this is shameful.  I swear to God.  What's happening to us is shameful,” he added.
