United Nations, June 8 (RHC)-- A UN special rapporteur says it should not have taken “15,000 children killed” in the Gaza Strip to add Israel to the blacklist of regimes that commit “heinous violations” of international law against children.

In a post on X on Saturday, Francesca Albanese said it is long overdue to blacklist Israel as a child-killer regime after killing 15,000 children in the besieged Palestinian enclave and mutilating many more.

“It should have not taken 15,000 children killed, many more mutilated & 20,000 orphaned, to list Israel among” the regimes “who commit heinous violations of intl. law against children.  Btw 2008-2022, 1,434+
Palestinian children were killed and 32,175+ were injured, mostly by Israeli forces using ‘excessive force’.  In the same period, 25 Israeli children were killed, mostly by Palestinian individuals, and 524 injured.  It did not start on Oct 7.”

Her comments came a day after the UN added the Israeli military to the world body’s annual “list of shame” that features the offenders committing deadly violations against children.  The list is attached to a report on children and armed conflicts that the UN chief submits to the UN Security Council each year.

Israel’s bloody war machine has killed over 36,500 Palestinians since October 7, 2023.  The vast majority of the fatalities are women and children.

The savage campaign was launched after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas carried out its historic Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the usurping entity in retaliation for the regime’s intensified atrocities.

In another post on X, Albanese condemned the Tel Aviv regime for killing the highest number of her colleagues in the world body during nearly eight months of Israel’s genocidal war against Gaza.

“Israel has killed the highest number of UN personnel during the last assault in Gaza. The UN should launch an investigation on each of these deaths and ensure that family members receive reparation for their loss,” she said.

According to figures provided by the UN chief back on May 13, more than 190 UN staff have been killed in Gaza since October.  Israel has additionally enforced a comprehensive blockade on the coastal sliver, severing the supply of fuel, electricity, sustenance and water to the population of over two million Palestinians residing there.
